The Peninsula Jaycees

History

The Jaycees began on the Peninsula in 1943 as The Peninsula Jaycees. A few years later, the name was changed to the Hampton Roads Jaycees. The Hampton Roads Jaycees were movers and shakers in the local community growing to as many as 500 members.

In 1998, a new chapter was chartered that took the place of the Hampton Roads chapter, renaming itself The Peninsula Jaycees.

Large projects worked over the decades by local Jaycees include the Newport News/Williamsburg Airport, The Hampton Coliseum, War Memorial Stadium, The Steam locomotive in Huntington Park, and currently the National qualifying girls Fast Pitched Softball Tournament (Cabin Fever held in Newport News & Hampton) that is host to over 60 national teams every 3rd weekend in March

What are the Jaycees?

Jaycees stands for Junior Chamber of Commerce. The Jaycees are an international organization for young men and women ages 18 - 40. The Peninsula Jaycees are a not for profit organization focusing on leadership training through community projects and individual development through member events such as International Cuisine night, rock climbing, CPR lessons, etc...

Future Goals

Our goal is to become the organization of choice for young men and women in the Peninsula area providing leadership growth and personal development.
